We were expecting it to be released in 2018, it has finally been deployed earlier, as Gary Illyes confirmed at the SMX East conference the 25th of October 2017. Google’s mobile-first index is being deployed now. We were expecting the new index to be released in 2018, but the early rollout was confirmed by Gary Illyes at the SMX East conference on the 25th of October 2017. Google has finally rolled out inline editing in search, allowing local businesses to manage their listing without leaving Google local search results. Google has recently launched a limited test where local pack snippets show website mentions that match consumer query. Matt Schexnayder of SpareFoot, a search engine for storage companies, sent Search Engine Land a tip on local pack results displaying the test outcome. If consumer searches for “climate control” in a specific location, for example, the search results will have an additional line in the snippet that indicates a storage company does have “climate controlled” storage units.
